“Don’t smoke for at least 48 hours.”

Patient: “Got it.” 🚬😅

We’ve all given the advice… and some patients seem determined to do the exact opposite.

Smoking immediately after an extraction can dislodge the blood clot, delay healing, and significantly increase the risk of a painful dry socket (alveolar osteitis).

Sometimes the hardest part of dentistry isn’t the extraction… it’s convincing the patient to follow the post-op instructions. 😄

💬 What’s the fastest you’ve ever seen a patient ignore your advice?

A missing tooth isn't just a gap in your smile. The tooth above or below it can slowly move into the empty space, leading to bite problems and making future treatment more difficult. A removable partial denture helps keep your teeth in their proper positions.
