Aligning high-positioned canines typically involves a combination of orthodontic techniques designed to reposition the teeth into their proper alignment. The process is often challenging because the canines (especially if they're impacted or ectopically positioned) are not in their ideal position in the dental arch, which can affect both aesthetics and function.
If the canine is high-positioned, it might not only need to be pulled down, but it also might need to be translated, rotated or tilted into proper alignment. This is where the desired force system comes into play, using specific wire configurations or springs to control the movement in three dimensions (e.g., vertical, horizontal, and rotational).
For this patient (ongoing case),space creation and segmented T-loop mechanics were considered to retract the canine.

Amor and Jan, two stunning young women, had the same orthodontic issues—crowding and protrusion. Following evaluation with the proper diagnostic tools, the decision was made to extract the first premolars in order to free up space for the front teeth to retraction and to address the protrusion. Treatment is still in progress, but both are now satisfied with their orthodontic journey.
