🦷 May bukol sa ngalangala? Don’t panic—this might be TORUS PALATINUS!

👉 Most of the time, normal lang ‘yan and nothing to worry about.

----
🔍 What is Torus Palatinus?

✔️ Karaniwang maliit lang—but can grow over time

------

🤔 Kailangan ba gamutin?

👉 Usually NO treatment needed
Pero pwede itong i-address kung:

✅️Nakakasagabal sa denture

✅️Madalas nasusugatan

😁Malaki na at uncomfortable

⚠️ The Dentist Dad Important Reminder

👉 If you’re unsure, magpa-check sa dentist

TAKE NOTE: It affects more than your SMILE. 😥 #

Here are 3 foods I wish I prioritized sooner 👇

🥕 1. Crunchy Vegetables (Carrots, Celery)
These act like natural toothbrushes 🪥
✔ Scrub plaque
✔ Stimulate saliva (your mouth’s natural defense)

🧀 2. Cheese
I used to avoid this… big mistake.
✔ Rich in calcium → strengthens enamel
✔ Helps neutralize acid after meals

🍎 3. Apples
Not just “healthy”—they’re protective too
✔ Boost saliva
✔ Help wash away food debris

💡 The truth?
It’s not just about avoiding sweets…
It’s about choosing foods that actively PROTECT your teeth.

👨‍⚕️ Bilang The Dentist Dad …
I always remind my child:
“Hindi lang toothbrush ang laban—pati pagkain mo, importante.”

👉 Save this before your next grocery trip
👉 Share this with someone who loves sweets 😅

Tonsil Stones: Safe Home Remedies

1️⃣. Warm saltwater gargle (best daily habit)
Mix ½ tsp salt + warm water
Gargle 15–30 seconds, 2–3× daily
👉 Helps loosen stones + reduce bacteria

2️⃣. Gentle removal (if visible)
Use a cotton swab or clean finger
Press gently beside the stone (not directly on it)
Do it in good lighting + mirror
⚠️ Stop if painful or bleeding

3️⃣. Oral irrigator (low pressure only)
Use a water flosser on lowest setting
Aim beside the stone, not deep into the tonsil
👉 Helps flush debris safely

4️⃣. Coughing or gargling forcefully
Sometimes stones dislodge naturally
👉 Simple but effective

5️⃣.Clean your tongue daily
Use a tongue scraper or toothbrush
👉 Reduces bacteria that contribute to stone formation

6️⃣ .Stay hydrated.
Drink plenty of water
👉 Prevents dry mouth (a major cause of buildup)

7️⃣. Use non-alcohol mouthwash
Helps control odor-causing bacteria
👉 Avoid alcohol-based (can worsen dryness)

🚫 Avoid this
✅️Aggressive digging with sharp objects
✅️High-pressure water (can injure tonsils)
✅️Ignoring recurring large stones

👨‍⚕️ When home care isn’t enough
✅️Frequent recurrence
✅️Pain, swelling, or infection
✅️Persistent bad breath
👉 Time to see a dentist or ENT

🦷 TOOTH SURFACE LOSS: ABFRACTION

👉 What is ABFRACTION?
Ito ay wedge-shaped na pagkasira sa may gumline, caused by repeated flexing of the tooth due to biting forces (clenching/grinding).

⚠️ Common causes:
• Teeth grinding (bruxism)
• Strong bite forces / clenching
• Misaligned bite (malocclusion)
• Stress-related jaw habits

🔍 Signs to watch for:
• V-shaped notch sa may gilagid
• Tooth sensitivity (lamig/init)
• Darker area near gumline (dentin exposed)
• Pwedeng sabay sa abrasion (combined causes)

✅ What to DO:
• Magpa-check ng bite (occlusion)
• Gumamit ng night guard kung naggrind
• Early treatment (fillings) to protect the tooth
• Address stress habits (clenching awareness)

🛡️ How to PREVENT:
• Avoid clenching (relax your jaw: lips closed, teeth apart)
• Treat bite problems early
• Regular dental visits for monitoring
• Combine proper brushing + occlusal management

💡 Remember:

🦷 TOOTH SURFACE LOSS: EROSION

👉 What is Erosion?
Over time, lumalambot ang ngipin at nae-expose ang dentin.

⚠️ Common Causes:
• Softdrinks, citrus, acidic foods
• Frequent coffee / energy drinks
• Acid reflux (GERD)
• Vomiting (e.g. bulimia, pregnancy)

🔍 Signs to watch for:
• Manipis o translucent na teeth
• Yellowish appearance (dentin showing)
• Sensitivity sa malamig / mainit
• “Cupping” or parang may hukay sa ngipin

✅ What to DO:
• Rinse with water after acidic drinks
• Use fluoride toothpaste (helps strengthen enamel)
• Use straw when drinking acidic beverages
• Visit your dentist for early protection

🛡️ How to PREVENT:
• Limit acidic food & drinks
• Huwag agad magsipilyo after acids (wait 30 mins)
• Stay hydrated (helps saliva protect teeth)
• Regular dental check-ups

💡 Remember:
Enamel does NOT grow back — once it’s gone, it’s gone.
