👨‍👧‍👦 Is Breastfeeding Good for Teeth?

Yes! Breastfeeding may help support healthy jaw development, oral muscle function, and proper growth.

But here's the reminder:
🍼 Breastfeeding helps your baby grow.
🪥 Brushing helps protect baby teeth.

Once that first tooth appears, it's time to start cleaning it every day.

A study published in the Journal of the American Dental Association found that children whose mothers had high levels of untreated tooth decay were more than three times as likely to experience dental cavities compared with children whose mothers had no untreated decay. A similar association was also observed when mothers had significant tooth loss.

This relationship is likely influenced by multiple factors. Cavity-causing bacteria can be transmitted from mother to child during early childhood, while shared dietary habits, oral hygiene practices, access to dental care, and socioeconomic factors also contribute to a child's risk of tooth decay. The study identified maternal oral health as a strong predictor of a child's oral health, not the sole cause.

The findings highlight an important message: protecting a child's smile starts with protecting the mother's. Treating cavities early, maintaining good oral hygiene, limiting frequent sugar exposure, and establishing healthy dental habits at home may help reduce a child's future risk of tooth decay.

Heto ang mga Tips ko paano maiiwasan ang makapal na Vitamins Stain sa Ngipin ng Bata.

1. Gumamit ng Droper or straw sa pag papainum ng Vitamins para di direct sa Ngipin yung vitamins.

2. After uminum ng vitamins mag mumog ng Tubig or Mas maganda Toothbrush ang Ngipin ng Bata para di dumikit ang kulay ng bitamina.

Bedtime brush may matter even more. 🪥🦷

Most people think the morning brush is the most important. Research suggests the bedtime brush may matter even more.

During sleep, saliva production naturally decreases, reducing the mouth's ability to wash away plaque and bacteria. As a result, dental plaque can remain undisturbed for hours, creating an environment that may promote bacterial growth and inflammation.

In a study published in Scientific Reports, researchers examined whether the timing of toothbrushing was associated with cardiovascular outcomes. People who brushed their teeth before bed—whether or not they also brushed in the morning—had a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular events than those who skipped nighttime brushing. Interestingly, brushing only in the morning did not show the same association.

The researchers suggest that removing dental plaque before sleep may help reduce the overnight bacterial burden. Because this was an observational study, the findings show an association rather than proving cause and effect.

Brushing before bed takes only a few minutes, yet it remains one of the simplest evidence-based habits for protecting oral health—and it may also support overall health.
