BASIC SET UP LANG NAMAN ITO ADJUST LANG TRUSSROD NA HINDI MO ALAM MALAKI NA ISSUE NUN. ACTUALLY NO BASIC SET UP NA NGA KASE NAGAMIT NA AT LUMABAS NA FROM STORE UNLESS NA FULL SET UP NA SIYA BEFORE PERO KAPAG NAGKA ISSUE ULI NEED NYA NANG FULL SET UP AGAIN. BAKA MAY MALI O MATAGAL NA HINDI NA MAINTAIN.

Ito kwento baka maoopen ang mind mo Lalo na sa mga baguhan at matagal na nagpapaset up. 👇👇👇👇

A few days ago, nagpatulong ako magpa-check ng gitara sa isang guitar tech.

Napansin ko kasi na sobrang taas na ng action, tapos parang may “buzz” sa ilang fret. Alam mo yung tipong hindi na “acoustic worship level” — parang “construction site” na yung tunog.

So I called a guitar technician.
Pagdating niya, sabi ko,
“Kuya, pa-check naman. Baka pihit truss rod lang ‘yan.”

Binuksan niya yung case, tiningnan yung neck relief, sinukat yung string height, sinuri yung frets… mga 15–20 minutes niya ring inikot yung gitara.(actually this is not easy to do)

Then he loosened the strings, adjusted the truss rod, checked the fretboard again, tapped the frets, inspected the saddle, and re-tuned everything.

Pagharap niya sa’kin, medyo kabado ako kasi baka major repair.
Pero sabi niya,

“Sir, okay na po. I-adjust ko lang yung truss rod at inayos yung setup.”(means Maraming ginawa at cheneck bago gawin)

Napakamot ako.(we are not the same like them may kanya kanya tayong profession)

“Ah… truss rod lang pala? Basic setup lang… siguro mura lang to?”(hindi natin alam paano idefine ang trussrod issue major issue na talaga yun)

Pero ngumiti si Kuya at sinabing kalmado, propesyonal, walang yabang:

“Opo, sir—truss rod adjustment lang po. Pero hindi po yung pihit ang binabayaran ninyo.
Ang binayaran ninyo ay paano ko malalaman kung gaano karami ang relief na kailangan, paano ko pipihitin nang hindi mababali ang neck, paano ko iaayos ang intonation at action para tumunog ng tama, at paano ko ibabalik sa inyo nang buo, safe, at maayos yung gitara.”

Tapos pinakita niya yung neck:

“Sir, kung napabayaan niyo pa ‘to, baka ma-warp yung neck. Alam niyo pong isang maling pihit, puwedeng i-crack ang fretboard o tuluyang masira yung truss rod?”

Tahimik ako pagkatapos nun.
Tahimik na medyo napahiya, pero natawa rin sa sarili.

Kasi doon ko na-realize… ang bilis nating malito between effort and value.

Akala natin pag maliit yung ginawa, maliit dapat ang bayad.
Pag mabilis ginawa, mura dapat.
Pag “pihit lang,” dapat “pihit price lang.”

Pero hindi natin nakikita:

• Yung taon ng pag-aaral para ‘di masira ang neck
• Yung skills para mahanap yung exact cause ng buzz
• Yung tools na kailangang kumpletuhin
• Yung experience para ma-adjust nang tama ang intonation, action, at relief

The truth?

It looks easy only because someone trained long enough to make it look easy.

And this applies to everyone—
technicians, artists, luthiers, carpenters, freelancers, designers, photographers, writers, marketers, and musicians.

So next time sabihin natin:

“Pihit lang ‘yan.”
“Mabilis lang ‘yan.”
“Basic setup lang naman?”

Remember:

You’re not paying for the seconds they turned a wrench.
You’re paying for the years they spent learning how to do it right, safely, and confidently.

At yung simpleng pihit ng truss rod?
Mukha siyang madali…
pero yung lesson sa likod nun?
