A 14-year old male patient presents at the clinic feverish and complaining of on and off pain and discomfort radiating from his right jaw. Thinking that it was his old restoration (tooth no 46 or 47) being the culprit for the undesirable sensation, he wanted it to be extracted. Dentist required the patient to provide panoramic radiograph.
Clinically:
•Tooth nos 46 and 47 are negative to percussion, restorations all intact. No fistula/fistulus tract seen on the area.
•Operculum seen on the area of tooth no. 48 (swollen gingiva, reddish in color)
Radiographically:
•Impacted no. 48 with open apex (which suggests active eruption causing problems to adjacent teeth)
Treatment Done: Odontectomy/Surgical Removal
