Successfully Completed Orthodontic Case 🦷✨

We are happy to share another successfully completed orthodontic case here at AXIS Dental Center. This case initially presented with tipping/flaring of both the maxillary and mandibular incisors, approximately 1–2 mm anterior spacing, and a 2–3 mm midline discrepancy which affected the patient’s overall alignment and smile balance.

Through proper orthodontic treatment planning, careful biomechanical control, and regular monitoring, we were able to gradually correct the incisor inclination, close the anterior spaces, improve the dental midline, and achieve a more harmonious occlusion and smile aesthetics.

Of course, excellent results are never achieved by the dentist alone. This transformation also became possible because of our patient’s outstanding compliance and commitment throughout the treatment. The patient never missed a single monthly adjustment appointment, consistently followed instructions, and maintained good oral hygiene during the entire orthodontic journey — a very important factor in achieving predictable and successful treatment outcomes.

A recent odontectomy (wisdom tooth removal) was performed on one of our orthodontic patients following a thorough clinical examination and radiographic assessment. Findings revealed an impacted third molar with a position that may compromise adjacent structures and interfere with ongoing orthodontic treatment.

Impacted wisdom teeth are commonly indicated for removal when they present risks such as recurrent infection, pericoronitis, damage to adjacent teeth, cyst formation, or crowding that may affect alignment outcomes. Leaving such a tooth untreated may lead to progressive bone loss, decay of neighboring teeth, chronic pain, and potential complications involving the surrounding nerves and tissues.

Smile Protection Begins 🦷✨

Today, our little patient showed us exactly what that means. She was incredibly brave and well-behaved throughout her sealant procedure, staying calm from start to finish.

Smile protection truly begins early. Regular dental check-ups help us prevent problems before they start, monitor proper growth and development, and guide children in building healthy oral habits. While primary (baby) teeth are temporary, they play a very important role in chewing, speech development, and in guiding permanent teeth into their proper position.

At home, simple habits can make a big difference. Bringing your child for their first dental visit by age 1 or upon eruption of the first tooth, brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and avoiding putting children to sleep with milk or juice all help protect their developing smile. Preventive treatments like dental sealants are also highly effective, especially for protecting the back teeth where cavities commonly form.

A missing tooth doesn’t only affect the appearance of your smile.. it can also impact your confidence, oral function and the natural support of your facial muscles.

For this case, our patient shared with me that she wanted her dentures to look as natural as possible. I told her, “I got you.” Of course, I also explained that achieving a very natural result is always case-to-case, depending on the condition of the teeth and supporting structures. Luckily, in her case, we were able to achieve a beautiful and natural outcome.

She also opted for Flexicryl removable partial dentures, a flexible type of denture material known for being more comfortable, lightweight, and durable compared to traditional acrylic dentures. Because of its flexibility, it adapts better to the mouth and provides a more natural feel when speaking and smiling.
