MY RELOCATION JOURNEY – PHASE 1 ✈️🇬🇧
I get a lot of messages asking, “How did you do it?” “Where did you start?”
So I’ve decided to share my journey—step by step, honestly and humanly. Because relocation is not a day’s job.
It started with a decision.
In 2022, I made up my mind that I was going to relocate to the United Kingdom. No backup plan, no second-guessing—just a strong conviction that I needed more for myself.
The first step? Getting my international passport.
I travelled to Abakaliki and got it done. That moment felt small, but looking back now, it was the beginning of everything.
Next, I went back to my school to sort out my documents. I processed my transcript, collected my original HND certificate (not a statement of result), and made sure everything was complete and ready. If there’s one thing I learned early, it’s this: preparation matters.
I started gathering every document I could possibly need. I wrote my statement of purpose—why I wanted to study, why I chose this path, what my future looked like. I made it personal. I made it real.
Then came the application phase.
I researched schools and applied to one in 2022… but I got a rejection email.
I won’t lie—that moment stung. It felt like a setback. But I didn’t stop. I held on to the vision.
Fast forward to September 2023, a friend reached out to me. She had just secured admission in the UK and had already travelled. She asked me, “Are you still interested?”
My answer didn’t change: Yes.
She sent me a link to her school, and because I already had my documents ready, I applied immediately. At the same time, I decided to push myself further—I searched and applied to another school on my own.
And then… the emails came in.
Two admissions.
I can’t even explain the joy. After the wait, the rejection, the uncertainty—this felt like confirmation that I was on the right path.
This is just Phase 1 of my journey.
And if you’re reading this and thinking of starting yours, take this from me:
👉 Start where you are.
👉 Get your documents ready.
👉 Don’t let one “no” stop your “yes.”
More phases coming…
