Not many people know this, but photography was a deep passion of mine that sat dormant for nearly 10 years. It was actually Jowayne who reignited that creative spark in me.
Our paths have been intertwined for years in more ways than one. In fact, he inspired a section titled 'The Full Story of the Mentee Who Stayed' in my book, ๐๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ (๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐ฎ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐จ๐ป๐ณ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐).
Our story started when Jowayne was still a 4th-year dental student, about 10 years ago. My classmate and his teacher, Dr Atika Ashar, connected us. From day one, Jowayne stood out. He didn't ask for a quick shortcut or a transactional favor; he asked thoughtful, sharp questions about Scientific Affairs, stayed curious, and maintained consistent, genuine touch points over years.
Because he took the time to build real value and stay memorable, recommending him when an opening came up at 3M was effortless โ he earned it completely on merit. Later, as paths evolved, he transitioned into GC Corporation as well.
Now, as Iโve stepped away from GC and am currently on sabbatical, Jowayne is preparing to take his own leap. Heโll soon be embarking on a brand-new journey โ joining a new company, stepping into a fresh segment in dentistry, and taking on an exciting APAC regional role!
It feels like watching a little bird that youโve nurtured finally spread its wings and leave the nest. Watching his growth from a curious student to an industry leader traveling across the region fills me with immense pride.
