Observing a Pediatric Condylar Fracture 🦷”

Today I watched a 12-year-old patient with a condylar fracture caused by a car accident. Even though I wasn’t operating, observing the case closely taught me so much.

The surgeon used a small incision near the ear (periauricular approach) to access the condyle carefully. They handled the fracture with precision, placing deep sutures for stability and superficial sutures on the skin to ensure smooth healing.

What really stuck with me:
• Pediatric fractures are delicate — every move counts for both function and future growth.
• Seeing step-by-step planning and ex*****on in real life brought the textbooks to life.
• Even as an observer, paying attention to the details showed me how precision, patience, and care are essential in dentistry.

Cases like this remind me that learning doesn’t stop at graduation — every patient teaches something new.
