Fiber post is a method of restoring heavily destroyed teeth.
The glass fiber post gives the advantages such as adhesion to the root canal and better distribution of applied forces, reducing the risk of of root fractures. The glass fiber posts are made of a structure of reinforcing fibers immersed in a polymerized resin matrix.

In the above case one teeth was restored using composite resin and the other was restored using fiber post, followed by composite core and then finally by porcelain fused to metal crown.

Stress reduced direct composite restoration -

This method involves the strategic placement of restorative materials into the cavity to both resist the mode of failure and mimic the performance characteristics of the intact natural tooth.
This technique involves covering the cavity walls with overlapping closely adapted pieces of weaved resin fibers or ribbons. The key for success is that the ribbons are adapted and polymerized as closely as possible against the contours of residual tooth substrate.
This technique makes the tooth and restoration more resistant to intrinsic stresses and also prevents crack propagation and ultimately leading to long lasting restoration.

Pulp capping with calcium silicate cement proved to be successful in maintaining pulp vitality and in prolonging the lifespan of the tooth.

In this case, the tooth was completely asymptomatic.
Patient gave history of sensitivity to cold but relieved on its own.Radiograph revealed no periapical changes.

Caries excavation was done very carefully under magnification inorder to avoid pulpal exposure.

Pulp was capped using Theracal LC ( light cured calcium silicate ) followed by etching > bonding > incremental layering of composite ( 3m filtek z350).

As of now the tooth is completely asymptomatic😊😁
