"He drives a Mercedes, but haggled over a single dental implant."
"If your teeth aren't perfectly aligned, you will never be truly confident or successful."
I see dentists posting things like this online all the time.
Honestly? It needs to stop.
As a dental professional, weaponizing people's insecurities and auditing their bank accounts isn’t healthcare. It is bad marketing.
Look around:
World-class cricket legends with missing teeth.
Iconic actors with natural gaps and crowding.
Top business leaders and politicians with imperfect, worn-down smiles.
Their authority, charisma, and success come from their competence and character—not a template of hyper-bleached, artificial veneers.
Here is what many clinicians forget:
Your clinical ideal is not their insecurity: If someone is happy, pain-free, and confident with their natural smile, telling them they need cosmetic perfection to be successful is predatory.
Nobody owes a doctor an explanation for their budget: Whether someone chooses to spend their hard-earned money on a car, a business, travel, or healthcare is 100% their prerogative. We are doctors, not lifestyle police.
Big decisions take time: In complex treatments like Full-Mouth Rehabilitation (FMR), my patients often take 2 to 3 years to become mentally and financially ready. That is completely normal.
Shaming burns the bridge forever: Condescending to a patient who hesitates guarantees they will never walk back into your clinic. Respecting their pace builds lifelong trust.
A patient saying "not right now" isn't rejecting expertise. They are simply prioritizing their life at this exact moment.
At Dentessence, we believe in a zero-judgment approach.
We educate you on the health and longevity of your teeth, lay out your clinical options transparently, and help you choose what genuinely fits your current priorities, timing, and budget.
No manufactured insecurities. No guilt trips. Just honest care on your terms.
