Mr John Schnakee from Indianapolis, United States, visited our clinic a few days ago with a chief complaint of severe pain in the lower left region.
He had a wisdom tooth extracted in Indianapolis last week, 3-4 days after which he started experiencing excruciating pain in that area.
Since John was visiting Mumbai for work, he dropped by the clinic a few days ago and we diagnosed a DRY SOCKET.
Dry socket is when the blood clot at the site of tooth extraction fails to develop or dislodges before the wound has healed.
This could happen because of a number of reasons such as bacterial contamination of the socket, trauma at the surgical site, post-operative instructions are not followed (smoking, drinking etc.)
He's doing well after the treatment and is leaving for the U.S. tomorrow 😊
