🦷 **ROOT CANAL TREATMENT (RCT) – PROCEDURE & INDICATIONS**

A root canal treatment is a dental procedure performed to save a tooth when the **pulp (nerve and blood supply inside the tooth) becomes inflamed or infected**.

🔹 **What does the procedure involve?**
1️⃣ Examination and X-ray of the tooth
2️⃣ Local anesthesia for a comfortable procedure
3️⃣ Removal of infected or inflamed pulp
4️⃣ Cleaning and shaping of the root canals
5️⃣ Disinfection of the canals
6️⃣ Sealing the canals with a suitable filling material
7️⃣ Final restoration/crown to protect the treated tooth

🔹 **When is Root Canal Treatment indicated?**
✅ Deep dental caries reaching the pulp
✅ Irreversible pulpitis
✅ Pulp necrosis
✅ Dental trauma causing pulp damage
✅ Periapical infection/abscess
✅ Repeated dental procedures causing pulpal damage
✅ Certain cases requiring treatment of a tooth before restorative or prosthetic procedures
