נהוג לומר שרק לאחר שנים רבות של היכרות ניתן להכיר אדם באמת. מרטין היה מאותם אנשים נדירים שמותירים רושם עמוק וכמעט מיידי. ואף על פי כן, לאחר יותר מארבעים שנות חברות ושותפות מקצועית, אני יכול לומר בכנות שרק כמעט הכרתי את האיש - משום שתמיד היה בו עוד רובד לגלות, עוד עומק להבין.
מרטין ידע ללמד, להעשיר ולעורר השראה לא רק בתחומי רפואת השיניים והרפואה, אלא גם במוזיקה, באמנות, בהיסטוריה ובכמעט כל נושא שניתן להעלות על הדעת. רוחב ידיעותיו ועומק הבנתו היו יוצאי דופן.
כאיש מקצוע וכרופא, ד”ר בלוך היה מהטובים שבטובים. הוא לימד אותנו את אחד הלקחים החשובים ביותר בעולם הרפואה: שבקצהו של כל שן, של כל שתל ושל כל תוכנית טיפול, ניצב אדם. זהו האדם שאנו מטפלים בו באמת.
עושר הידע שלו היה אגדי. שנים רבות לפני עידן האינטרנט ומנועי החיפוש, מרטין היה ה”גוגל” שלי. הוא היה המנטור שלי, המדריך שלי, המורה שלי ומקור בלתי נדלה של חוכמה ותבונה.
אך מעל לכל אלה, הוא היה חברי.
על כל מה שנתת, על כל מה שלימדת, ועל האדם שהיית - אני מצדיע לך ד”ר מרטין בלוך ז״ל.

It is often said that you only truly know a person after many years of association. Martin was one of those rare individuals who made a profound impression almost instantly. Yet even after more than 40 years of friendship and professional association, I can honestly say that I only almost knew the man
Martin could educate and inspire us not only in dentistry and medicine, but also in music, art, history, and virtually any subject imaginable. His depth and breadth of knowledge were extraordinary.
As a clinician, Dr. Bloch was exceptional. He taught us one of the most important lessons in healthcare: that at the end of every tooth, every implant, and every treatment plan, there is a human being. That person is who we are truly treating.
His wealth of knowledge was legendary. Long before the internet Martin was my Google. He was my mentor, my guide, my teacher, and my trusted source of wisdom.
But above all else, he was my friend.
For all that you gave, all that you taught, and all that you were, I salute you Dr Martin Bloch.
