As many of you may have seen, I’ve been lecturing and mentoring other dentists in various aspects of dentistry. It’s about more than just giving them facts and information that you hope absorbs into them and they recall when they need it. 🤯⁣
⁣
It’s about 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 and developing a 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 level of 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 and a desire to learn more. 🤔 Being in a position to influence others is a huge responsibility, something which a lot of people nowadays take for granted. 👩🏽‍🏫⁣
⁣
I feel honoured and proud to be able to be in a position that can help and develop skills for other dentists, turning their biggest fears 🙈around to their biggest strengths💪🏼. It’s so lovely seeing dentists go through this experience with us, and go on to develop a strong understanding that solidifies their basic foundations in dentistry. They can then go on to treat their patients with the best possible care. 💞⁣

There’s something about having a gap in between the teeth that adds character to a smile. However, if the teeth are too spaced out, it may be something that you’d like to remedy. ⁣

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙: ⁣
This patient, although she liked her teeth, didn’t like her smile because of the gaps present in between her teeth. She wanted them closed up and the teeth brought together. ⁣

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙: ⁣
Step 1️⃣ - Align teeth to close gaps with 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 ⁣

Today, I was fortunate enough to be invited to 𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 foundation dentists Oral Surgery as part of their induction to general practice alongside .m.ali.implants

Having taught various topics over the past 5 years, including composite restorations, the 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 of young colleagues is the same. ⁣

Fear of litigation, confidence in one’s ability to diagnose, support they may have at their practices are all those that come up time and time again. ⁣

What a difference this treatment has had made on the patient’s smile!⁣

This beautiful young patient of mine was not happy with her 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵. Since her permanent teeth came through, she would not smile due to being 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 about the spaces between her teeth and the size of her lateral incisors, affecting her self-esteem. ⁣
⁣
𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙: ⁣
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽1️⃣ - 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻: 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 to align the upper and lower teeth and closing the gaps as much as possible, but keeping spaces adjacent to the lateral incisors to allow space to bond onto and restore 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. ⁣
⁣
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽2️⃣ - 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻: The smile was brightened with some 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 with for 4 weeks. ⁣
⁣
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽3️⃣ - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿: Build-up of the upper front 6 teeth to alter the shape and size of the teeth with composite veneers. ⁣
⁣
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽4️⃣ - 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: It is so important to 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵 in their new position after any alignment. We did this using a 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 and a 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿 that the patient uses at night time. ⁣(fixed retainer not shown in this photo). ⁣

I’m sure you’ll agree how much more confident and happier her smile seems to be! ⁣She will be having a frenectomy and gingival contouring soon.

Life has a funny way of not always planning out the way you want it to.⁣

Getting turned away from opportunities that you thought were yours to take. Receiving a rejection following that job interview that went so well for you. Not getting into the college or university you wanted to despite being an ideal candidate. Your soul mate that you think is just around the corner is taking longer to arrive. ⁣
⁣
These things can and will happen.⁣
⁣
Life doesn’t have a pause button to stop or even to slow down, no matter how much we want it to. ⁣
⁣
Well… I am a firm believer that if life won’t slow down, then neither should YOU! ⁣
⁣
My faith teaches me to 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯, and this is sincerely how I strongly I believe that. It is only when we trust the process, trust that there is divine wisdom behind it, that we become a force to be reckoned with. Our lives are beautifully decreed, uniquely for each of us.
