Update for New patient requests:

We are currently only able to accept patients who fall within particular categories for routine care set by NHS ICB. These are:

Homeless
Have learning difficulties or ASD (Autistic spectrum disorder)
Child in care
Family member of someone in the forces or ex-forces – army, navy or RAF
Awaiting an NHS procedure that requires oral stabilisation (i.e cancer treatment or heart operations?)
In a care home or nursing home

If you do not fit into one of the above groups unfortunately we are currently at capacity and unable to offer NHS routine care with either our Dentist or Therapist.

We do offer emergency NHS appointments to all patients in pain, these are offered at 8am on the day, triaged as needed and offered face to face if deemed necessary.

EXCITING NEWS - We are expanding our clinical team and we are now a team of Dentists and Therapist

What does this mean for you?

Your appointments and treatments may be provided by any member of our team depending on availability and your needs.

More dental surgeries have dental therapists working for them to do routine dental work.

Due to a reduced number of dentists working under the NHS by utilising the skill set of other dental care professionals it will allow us to continue providing NHS care to both existing and new patients.

Why is there a shortage of NHS dentists?

Since COVID there are over 1000 less NHS dentists working. 75% of UK dentists are likely to reduce, or further reduce, their NHS commitment over the next 12 months. 45% claim they’re going to go fully private, and 47% suggest they’re either going to change career or seek early retirement.*

Who is a Dental therapist?

Dental therapists are GDC registered dental professionals who provide care to patients to help maintain their oral health by preventing and treating oral disease. They carry out treatment direct to patients or under prescription from a dentist.

What can a therapist do?

The role of a therapist includes:

Examination
Scaling and polishing
Oral health advice
Applying Fluoride Varnish
Applying Fissure Sealants
Taking dental x-rays
Taking impressions of teeth
Fillings
Extracting baby teeth

What can a therapist not do?

Lab work (such as dentures/crowns)
Prescriptions
Adult extractions
Root Canals

If these are required the Dentist will be available to treat as necessary.
