Correction of tooth widths: Our lovely patient came in wanting to improve the shape of his upper right crown. After a detailed exam, we drew attention to the fact that all four front teeth had different widths, which if corrected, would improve the final outcome. We also recommended Boutique whitening. The top picture shows the starting position. The middle picture shows post whitening with the shade tab indicating the original tooth colour for comparison. The bottom picture shows post fit of a new emax crown and three veneers to correct the dimensions. A great improvement. and after

Tooth wear is becoming more common as patients are keeping their teeth for longer. Splints are prescribed if tooth wear is diagnosed during an examination appointment to prevent future destruction. We often see patients with massive tooth wear which we can treat with a combination of composite filling material and crowns to restore the teeth to their original size.

Reconstruction after some serious tooth loss due to bruxism (tooth grinding). Our patient had his teeth built up initially with composite to their original size. After getting used to this new bite he had Emax restorations carried out to achieve this lovely result. These restorations will be protected with a Michigan Splint so they last for years to come.

Michigan Splint: These in my opinion are the King of Splints. They are calibrated so that there is a single point of contact on each opposing tooth. When moving your jaw from right to left only the canines take the load and other teach are out of occlusion. When moving your jaw forward all the anterior teeth take the load equally with the posterior teeth out of occlusion. These splints are recommended for patients who grind and clench their teeth, TMJ joint and muscle problems as well as protecting reconstructed teeth from damage. care
