Short round of orthodontics using Invisalign to shuffle the teeth around to improve function and positions, gum lift to improve tooth heights and finished off with amazing ceramic work by to harmonise the overall smile and mask a dark tooth for extra measure.

“NATURAL or BRIGHT?” Interesting case of two types of veneers for the same patient…..

Using skilled technicians and a blank canvas we can control the outcome whether it be a “natural” or a “bright” final look.

“NATURAL” means subtle characteristics in the lower edges and a colour transition from the neck of the tooth downwards.

“BRIGHT” means more emphasis on a more even colour from neck downwards and just a hint of characterisation on the lower edges.

No right or wrong answer for this, sometimes it’s just what looks good within the face of the patient.

“REFRESH” Story of how not all composite bonding is the same…..

Patient had composite bonding elsewhere but she was unhappy with the result. Sadly this dentist was not an alumni of as they would have been shown and taught how to do this properly 😉

This Empress-ive outcome was a combination of top up tooth whitening with and replacing the old bonding for new using Empress Direct Composite Veneers.

“CLEAN” Such a great minimally invasive result for this patient….

Initially this teenager had come in for Composite Veneers as she didn’t like her smile and teeth but we had other plans.

Recipe of tooth whitening using gels followed by Icon White Spot treatment has had her smiling again.

Simple, easy and effective.

“CHEF’S KISS” This is a great example of what we do.

Lovely lady was recommended by one of my long standing patients to see how we could help with her smile. Issues of tooth size and colour and black triangles were on her problem and she wanted a smile as stunning as she was.

Plan involved a crown lengthening gum lift (learnt from the charismatic ), tooth whitening and a smile makeover using porcelain veneers made by the artists at and composite bonding on the lower edges.

As an ever suffering fan and to quote Big Ange, “it’s just who we are mate” 😜

BACD Accredited Dentist #17

Highlight of ‘24 was finally completing my BACD Accreditation. We often only see the highlights on social media but my journey for me started in 2014 when I passed a few initial cases. Life had other ideas so my attention was redirected for a little while but I happy to say this time was not entirely wasted as it meant I had a great catalogue of cases to pick from to finish the job.

Picking up the plaque and blazer at the dinner last year in front my friends and colleagues was a great buzz!

There are many people to thank…..my family, friends, patients, students, work colleagues, the vocal and silent cheerleaders to name a few and I am eternally grateful for having the best people around me to always help and support me.

BACD Accreditation isn’t for everyone but it’s an amazing and very rewarding process that not only helps to fine tune your skills but is an extremely pleasant reward for all the hours, time, effort, blood, sweat and tears that goes on behind the scenes to do a job you truly love and enjoy.

“BALANCE” This lovely lady came to see us as she was moving to LA and wanted her smile to fit in! She was born without one pair of her incisors and there was spacing in her upper jaw.

After carefully consideration and planning, we used to move the teeth into more favourable positions and after this the magic would happen.

To create the illusion of having a a well balanced and proportioned smile, we converted her canines into lateral incisors, her first premolars into canines and shaped the front portion of her first molars to look like a second premolar! If that didn’t give my amazing technician a challenge, we had a dark front tooth to mask and he was able to make a zirconia crown seamlessly blend in with the emax veneers. Khristo is a true artist!

She was over the moon and was able to blend in with the other LA Smiles!

“JUST SO NICE” We had this absolute gem of a patient get in touch over lockdown to help her with her smile.

She had knocked her front tooth when younger and it was repaired with bonding in the past. Over time, this tooth had become discoloured and the alignment had started to shift.

First stage of the plan was to align the teeth using clear aligners. Once the teeth were straight, the discoloured tooth was whitened first using an inside/outside whitening technique and the adjacent teeth using home whitening using a combination of day and night gels. The gum levels were tweaked with using a soft tissue laser and the scene was set for the composite bonding phase.

The UR1 was a full coverage composite veneer and the UL1 was a class IV composite. We used HRi from to restore this case and careful planning for shade, colour and finish was important for that seamless end result.

“SAY CHEESE” This delightful lady was unhappy with her worn front teeth and was looking to improve her smile. She came to for help.

Her teeth were aligned with the skilful and following careful planning, finishing and tooth whitening using DayWhite gels, edge bonding was used to restore her smile with Empress Direct.

She can now smile with confidence and there is no need to ask her to ‘Say Cheese” when taking photographs!
