A special moment.

Honoured to see my children’s book, The Robot Who Does Not Know Everything, featured by Arab News.

I wrote this book with a simple goal: to help children understand artificial intelligence through curiosity, critical thinking, and human values.

As AI becomes part of everyday life, helping the next generation ask the right questions may be just as important as teaching them the right answers.

My sincere thanks to Arab News and to journalist and author Mustafa Abu Sneineh for his thoughtful review and support.

قبل 36 عاماً كنت أحاضر في القانون الإنساني الدولي واتفاقيات جنيف في معهد هنري دونان بجنيف.

اليوم، وفي عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي والهندسة الجينية، أطرح في مقالتي الجديدة فكرة «اتفاقيات الرياض الإنسانية» لحماية الإنسان في عصر الخوارزميات.

قد تتغير التقنيات، لكن الرسالة تبقى واحدة:

كلما ازدادت قدرة الذكاء الاصطناعي على التحليل والتنبؤ، برز سؤال أكثر عمقًا:

هل تعزز الخوارزميات خبرة الطبيب… أم قد تؤدي مع الزمن إلى تآكل استقلالية حكمه السريري؟

في مقالتي الأخيرة ناقشت أحد أكثر التحديات الفكرية والأخلاقية أهمية في مستقبل الرعاية الصحية.

فالخطر ليس أن تصبح الآلة أكثر ذكاءً…

بل أن يتوقف الإنسان عن التفكير.

كلما أصبحت أنظمة الذكاء الاصطناعي أكثر دقة، أصبح السؤال أكثر إلحاحًا.

فالخطر الحقيقي قد لا يكون في ذكاء الآلة…

بل في استعدادنا للتخلي عن حكمنا الإنساني أمامها.

الذكاء الاصطناعي يستطيع تحليل البيانات بسرعة مذهلة.

لكنه لا يشعر بالخوف.
ولا بالألم.
ولا بالأمل.

One of the most important questions in healthcare today is no longer whether AI can diagnose disease, but whether it can help preserve the human experience of care.

In my latest article for Asharq Al-Awsat, I explore the emerging concept of compassionate AI and its potential role in supporting patients during moments of fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability.

Medicine has always been more than science alone. It is also empathy, trust, and human connection.

It was a great pleasure and honour to visit the University of East London today and meet with Professor Hassan Abdalla, Provost & Vice-President (London Campuses), Professor Anwar Khan, Professor Tann, and senior university colleagues.

We had thoughtful and inspiring discussions on the future of ethical artificial intelligence in healthcare, healthcare education, international academic collaboration, and future opportunities for UK–Saudi engagement.

I am sincerely grateful for the warm hospitality, generous welcome, and intellectually stimulating exchange of ideas during my visit.

The future of healthcare innovation will not depend only on technology itself, but on building globally connected, ethically grounded, and AI-literate academic communities.
