🎉 We are delighted to announce that Dental Nurse Network is now an approved centre with the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), to deliver the Ofqual regulated Level 4 Diploma for Oral Health Practitioners.

If you have known us for a long time, you'll know how passionate we are about upskilling dental nurses, and about the role being used to its full potential. DNN has been training nurses for over 16 years ✨

🦷 This diploma brings together the clinical skills we have been teaching dental nurses for many years including oral health, fluoride application, plaque scoring, impression taking and much more!

📅 Our first cohort starts in January. We have only just been approved, so we are still updating the website, and full course information will be available within the next week!

Abbi shares her story of starting out as a trainee dental nurse in 2013, thinking it would be temporary until she found something long-term. After her first week in surgery, she was shocked by how much skill and knowledge the role needed, and wondered whether she had made the right decision.

She pushed through, and dental nursing became the career she loves. Abbi is now a Learning and Development Lead, a speaker, and co-host of the podcast Behind the Dental Chair.

Victoria's story continues, and this time it's all about confidence.

When she started the OHE course, Victoria was nervous about teaching patients. With her supervisor supporting her throughout, her confidence grew with every patient she saw.

By the end of the course, she was ready to run her own clinics without supervision 🦷

Since the NHS contract changes in April 2026, trained, competent and indemnified dental nurses in England can apply fluoride varnish to children as a standalone course of treatment, on a dentist's prescription. We've seen a huge rise in interest in our fluoride courses, so if you've been thinking about adding this clinical skill, now is the time. Abbi is a registered dental nurse and a qualified educator. She started dental nursing 13 years ago and, at the time, couldn’t really see a career pathway for herself. With a supportive working environment and a lot of her own hard work, she has flourished.
We’ll be sharing more of her story soon.

Following up on Victoria's journey, now that she's qualified as an oral health educator 🏅 She can see patients on her own. No supervision needed. The clinician refers, reception books them in, and Victoria runs her own clinic.
