The great debate…

Should you brush before or after breakfast? Drop your preference in the comments below 👇

Here’s the actual science behind it…

Brush first, then eat. Here’s why:
Overnight, bacteria build up a sticky biofilm on your teeth. That’s the “fuzzy” feeling each morning. Brushing first thing clears that bacterial layer and coats your teeth in a thin layer of fluoride, which makes enamel more resistant to acid.

Then breakfast happens, and many breakfast foods (orange juice, coffee, toast, cereal) are acidic or sugary. They temporarily soften enamel. If you brush right after eating, you’re scrubbing enamel while it’s still softened, which causes more wear over time.

So the order that protects your teeth best: brush before breakfast, rinse with water after eating, then wait at least 30-60 minutes before brushing again if you really want that post-meal clean feeling.

The exception: if you skip brushing before breakfast, don’t brush immediately after either. Rinse with water, chew sugar-free gum, or just wait it out.
