How to spot the visual signs of 👇

Do you know the visual signs of ?

Uneven shoulders, a shoulder blade that sticks out more, or differences in the shape of the waist and hips can be signs to look out for. One side of the rib cage may also appear more raised, particularly when bending forwards.

Here are five signs you might notice in yourself or your child.

Visual signs of scoliosis 🩻

What does scoliosis actually look like?

The visual signs can be subtle. You might notice uneven shoulders or hips, a prominent shoulder blade, an uneven waist, clothes hanging differently or the body leaning slightly to one side.

Scoliosis isn’t usually painful, so it’s often first noticed by a parent, teacher or during activities such as swimming and sports.

Does bracing actually work? 🤔

It's one of the questions we get asked most often.

The short answer? Yes, when it's backed by research, evidence and the right clinical expertise.

Since launching our LOC Scoliosis Brace in 2022, we've been collecting clinical outcome data with our research partners at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to help us continually refine our brace design and improve outcomes for our patients.

So far, we've seen an average 78% in-brace correction when the brace is worn as prescribed, and we've been proud to share our research at international conferences including SRS, SOSORT and Spine Week.
