Yes, women get chest wall deformity, too ✔️

Female pectus carinatum and female pectus excavatum are often overlooked, but pectus deformities affect women too.

In this short video, Senior Orthotist Connor Mumford, who heads up our Cambridge clinic, and Orthotist Erin Henderson discuss:

- Female pectus treatment
- Pectus bracing for women
- Male vs female pectus patients
- What pectus braces actually look like
- Whether treatment differs for women

If you've searched "female pectus carinatum" or "female pectus excavatum," this one's for you.

Walking with bionic legs🦿

At just 7 years old, Asger, who has is trialling the Agilik smart orthosis to see whether it can improve his walking, stability and comfort, combined with his bespoke AFOs.

Before the trial, school runs often meant wheelchair use, frequent stops and tiring quickly. But after just 2 weeks, Asger’s family noticed significant changes, including improved walking patterns, more confidence and the school run time being cut in half.

In this video, Asger’s family share their experience of the Agilik trial and the impact it is having on his everyday life.

Another great result for one of our adolescent scoliosis patients.

Improving knee extension during terminal stance with the Agilik smart orthosis🦿

In this video, Sam talks through one of our long-term cerebral palsy patients’ very first Agilik fitting, and the immediate difference it made to his gait pattern.

Using detailed gait lab analysis, we can see how the right orthotic intervention can create meaningful changes from day one. Over time, even small improvements in posture and knee extension can support greater independence and help reduce the risk of muscle contractures later in life.

This patient has been attending our clinic since he was a young boy, and it’s been incredible to support him as he trials the Agilik system.

This man is walking for the first time in 27 years🦿

We met Martin, from Port Talbot, Wales, at Neuro Con 2026 and watched him walk 18 metres in under a minute.

After decades living with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), where even standing caused severe pain, he was able to move again for the first time, pain-free.

We’re increasingly seeing the powerful potential of smart-powered orthoses like the Agilik and what they can do for our patients.

For some people, it’s not just support, it’s life-changing.

If you’re at Neuro Convention at the NEC Birmingham this week, make sure you say hello to The London Orthotic Consultancy team!

We'll be there from 25 to 26 March, presenting alongside Thuasne UK on the powered knee orthosis: a new class of smart-powered orthosis that delivers real-time adaptive assistance through the gait cycle, enabling active gait rehabilitation in complex neurological gait dysfunction.

Plus, we're running live test trials during the event for suitable candidates. If you work with patients with neurological gait impairment and want to explore powered orthotic options, we'd love to hear from you.
