The Alzheimer’s Society developed Community Peer Hubs which meet monthly and give attendees the opportunity to obtain guidance, resources and support from local services and professionals as well as a chance to meet and chat to others who have either had a dementia diagnosis or are living or caring for a person with dementia. Justine from the Nottingham Oral Health Improvement Team attended the latest event in the County at the Ollerton Peer Hub. Lyndsay from the Nottinghamshire Oral Health Improvement Team went to join in the Stay and Play session at the Eastwood Family Hub. It is an interactive session designed for ages 0-5 with lots of different activities and a wonderful role play area. As you can see Ralph the dog tried a few hats! Lyndsay chatted to the parents about the importance of oral health in early childhood and demonstrated toothbrushing techniques.

Dawn from the Nottinghamshire Oral Health Improvement Team visited Sandfield Day Nursery in Lenton to observe their Supervised Toothbrushing Programme and carry out a quality assurance visit.
It was lovely to see the children showing fantastic toothbrushing skills and taking part in fun oral health activities with Flossi the Dragon and Canine the Crocodile.
A big thank you to Manager Trudy and the rest of the team for their continued commitment in helping children develop healthy habits for life.
The nursery has also introduced a book lending library for parents to help continue to promote oral Health messages at home, which include toothbrushing, healthy eating and visiting the dentist.
Well done, Sandfield, and keep those little smiles shining!

Debbie and Sian from the Norfolk & Waveney Oral Health Improvement Team continued attending Premier Education's Summer Clubs held across Norfolk this week. The team took part in sessions at Stalham Primary, St Francis School, and The Free School. Rosie the Unicorn and Dom the Dinosaur helped out by letting the children practice their brushing and flossing motions on their teeth, as well as getting involved with all the other fun and educational oral health activities! Dawn from the Nottinghamshire Oral Health Improvement Team recently visited Once Upon a Time Day Nursery in Nottingham City Centre to deliver face-to-face Supervised Tooth brushing Training to the nursery team.
Manager Alice shared that all staff were looking forward to taking part in the programme and supporting children with their toothbrushing, helping them to develop positive oral health habits from an early age. The team also shared some lovely positive feedback following the training.
Supervised toothbrushing in early years plays an important role in building positive oral health habits that can last a lifetime. By getting involved, early years settings can help children develop good toothbrushing routines, help prevent tooth decay and support a lifetime of healthy smiles.
