Following the PM's announcement last night of a lockdown, we can confirm that dental services in England are still open as normal.

COVID-19 (Corona Virus) Update
We are delighted to be able to resume face to face dentistry on Wednesday 24th June.
Please be aware that all calls of a clinical nature will still be triaged over the telephone by a dentist who will then direct you as to the next steps. In this first phase, appointments will be given to those who are in urgent need and can be treated without an aerosol generating procedure. We hope to expand the services in the weeks to come in a timely and safe manner.
There will be several changes that you will need to be aware of when you do next come to the Practice for an appointment and we ask you to please read the email reminder and attached pdf carefully before you attend .
We look forward to welcoming you back.

Dear Patients:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health.

You may have heard that dental practices can open to routine care from Monday 8 June.

York Road Dental Practice remains closed at the moment as we are undergoing refurbishment and we will continue to update you on our proposed reopening on this page. However, we just wanted to be clear that when the practice does reopen, this may not be business as usual. The treatments you are offered may be different to those you received before, depending on staff and equipment available. It will take some time before services return to what you previously experienced as normal. Please be patient.

Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our surgery. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our practice follows infection control guidelines made by the governing bodies. We are up-to-date on new guidance that has been issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our practice will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again at your appointment
• We have hand sanitiser that we will ask you to use when you enter the practice. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the practice for you to use as needed.
• We no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

How you can help:

¥ With the exception of children and patients with carers, patients should come alone
¥ A distance of at least 2 metres mush be observed if another patient is present in the dental practice
¥ Payment should be made by card where possible
¥ Staff will not shake your hand
¥ If you show symptoms following appointment booking, you should contact the practice by phone
¥ Please do not arrive early to the practice. If necessary, you should wait outside the practice
¥ Please do not arrive without an appointment
¥ Patients should come wearing a mask if possible or be prepared to wear one.

Sincerely,

Dr V K Sethi

Hello everyone,

As I’m sure you are all aware, yesterday it was announced that dental practices in England can reopen as of the 8th June 2020.

This has taken us by surprise, having not been announced to the profession before appearing on the BBC news yesterday afternoon.

We would like to make all patients aware that we are NOT in a position to offer all available treatments until we are absolutely sure that we have reduced the risk of covid-19 transmission to make the practice safe for all patients and staff alike.

We have been working hard over the course of the pandemic to ensure that we have the correct PPE and social distancing measures in place within the practice, and I can ensure you that we have most systems in place now.

However, in order to carry out aerosol generating procedures (AGPs) safely, we are required to have FFP3 masks which are currently in short supply and also require a fit test by an external professional.

Prior to yesterday’s announcement, we had already engaged with building contractors for some refurbishment works, due to take place within the next couple of weeks. This will therefore delay our reopening slightly but we will continue to keep you updated via this page.

In the interim, we will continue to provide a remote triaging system so please contact the dental practice as normal if you have a dental emergency at:

Email:

[email protected]

Mobile:

07908139390

Please be reassured that we have systems in place for all those that have had their appointments cancelled, and those with emergency dental needs will be prioritised.

Keep safe and we look forward to welcoming you as soon as it safe to do so.
