We were is Lisboa for the annual meeting.
Lectures with great leaders in the field of . Clinical case presented by Dr , EFO Alumni of , was incredible 🙌.
Such a good time ! .

We are routinely confronted to this kind of cases : no global treatment (periodontal disease, to***co smoking, metabolic syndrome), no implant planification, placement of low-cost implants ... .
It’s a dramatic situation 💣 .
What would be your treatment plan ?
Remove it and place others implants with GBR and peri -implant plastic surgery ?
Removable prosthesis ? .

What happens if you don’t treat periodontal disease before placing implants ? 📷
We know that we can place implants in periodontally compromised patients after periodontal treatment.
Studies of Rocuzzo et al. and Karoussis et al. demonstrate high survival rates but quite lower compared to non-periodontitis patients.

Key message : Don’t forget to treat periodontitis before placing implant ! ☝️☝️

What a month !

After Lior Shapira 2 weeks ago, we received Nikos Donos from London 🇬🇧 🇬🇷
His topic : Guided Bone Regeneration, biologic principals. .
3 main factors to keep in mind :
👆 First one : implant surface.
👆 Second one : biomaterial.
👆 Third one : membrane.
For us, the most important thing is the biology : you need to take care of your patients in a biologically way to manage properly the clinical aspects.

Yesterday, we received Pr Lior Shapira, professor and chair department of periodontology of Hadassah Medical Center. 🇮🇱
The topic of his lecture was animals models to study the pathogenesis of peri-implantitis. 🐁 🐕 🐒
His team is really involved in the comprehension of this disease.
👆Take home message 1 : we treat peri-implantitis the same way we treat periodontitis but it’s not biologically the same disease. 🧐
👆Take home message 2 : peri-implantitis is going to be a “dental bomb” 💣 in the next few years. So, don’t remove teeth to place implants : if you do perio, your job is to save teeth.
