Advanced Periodontal Practice Course This is the official platform for the board members of the advanced periodontal practice credit hour program in Alexandria University. Clinical Session I

Our aim is to share our educational programs, study clubs and online webinars with the dental society. Advanced Periodontal Practice Course:

It's a certified 3 months 5 credit hour course.

- It allows dentists to practice periodontal and implant surgeries.

- The course includes lectures, live patient demonstrations of various periodontal and implant surgeries, practical workshops and clinical p

atient training.

- The candidates will have the chance to practice different periodontal surgeries as gingivectomy, functional and esthetic crown lengthening, different types of flaps, recession coverage and implant placement.

- The candidates will be required to perform one periodontal surgery and to place one implant in a patient under the supervision of a trained professional with a total of two surgeries. Course Content:

*Lectures:
From 9 to 2

1. Diagnosis, treatment planning in Periodontology and implantology + Diagnostic radiology

2. Principles of Periodontal Surgeries (Flap Design and Suturing) + Suturing work shop

3. Pocket Reduction Therapy
(Non surgical pocket therapy, Open curettage, GTR and Surgical Management of Furcation Involvement)

4. Management of Gingival Recession+ Failures and Complications in periodontal surgeries

5. Use of Laser in Periodontics and Diode Laser Workshop+ Management of black triangle

6. Management of Short Crowns and Gummy smile (Gingivectomy, Functional and Esthetic Crown Lengthening and lip repositioning)

7. Basic Implantology and Implant Radiology

8. Keys for successful immediate implant placement and dental implant failure and complications the other side of the coin

9. Hard Tissue Augmentation+ PRF+ Implant in defective socket

10. Soft Tissue Management Around Dental Implant + Management of peri-implantitis.

11. Prosthetic Phase Of Dental Implants+ Closing Ceremony+ Certificate Delivery

* Clinical sessions:
Starting from 4th week

1. Hands on harvesting palatal Graft, flap design and suturing on sheep heads

2. Candidates’ cases presentation
+Hands on Laser applications in periodontics

3. Hands on Implant Radiology

5. Implant company work shop

6. Clinical Session II

7. Clinical Session III

8. Clinical Session IV

9. Clinical Session V



Certification:
Participants will receive a certificate accredited by Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University. Benefits:

- Hands-on training equipment will be provided by the course.

- Materials and equipment for implant placement by the participant will be sponsored by the course (basic section).

- Free coffee breaks in all course sessions.

- Well prepared handouts including detailed course outline.



* The course is considered an elective course to those enrolled in Masters or PhD programs at the Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University. Which entitles them to 5 credit hours in their masters or PhD programs.

Highlights from the digital planning workshop day sponsored by MINEC, where Dr. Hossam Hamdy presented an engaging lecture on the fundamentals of implant planning and surgical guide fabrication and led a hands-on session. The event was followed by a lecture from Dr. Kwang Bum Park, CEO of MegaGen, titled ‘Alternative Suggestions to Minimize Complications and Maximize Clinical Efficiency for Thin Defected Ridges.’ His lecture was delivered on the sidelines of the APPC in the presence of Prof. Maha Taalab, Program Director of the Advanced Periodontal Practice Course and Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

We are delighted to announce that APPC is hosting the MINEC Scientific Day for the first time in Alexandria. The event will begin with a lecture on digital dentistry in periodontics and implantology by Dr. Hossam Hamdy, followed by a hands-on workshop.

Week 3 of the APP!!!!
This week’s session featured Prof. Maha Taalab, who discussed the different techniques for recession coverage and the management of soft tissue deficiencies around natural teeth. She was followed by Dr. Eman El Mahalawy, who addressed the challenge of black triangles and outlined both conservative and surgical treatment approaches.

The session concluded with an informative hands-on workshop conducted on sheep heads, where participants practiced various connective tissue graft harvesting methods and explored different surgical techniques for recession coverage🤩🤩🤩🤩

Week 2 of the APP’s 6th batch recap!!!

The session featured two comprehensive lectures: Dr Yasmine Gaweesh presented the different flap designs, while Dr Souzy Kamal addressed the various suturing techniques. It concluded with a practical workshop that allowed participants to apply and practice the discussed suturing techniques🤩🤩
