Osseointegration is the first milestone, not the finish line. A stable, well-integrated implant gives every restoration the foundation it needs — but that foundation is only the beginning of what determines long-term success.

Experience is invaluable, but even the best clinical skills can’t eliminate every variable in an analog workflow

Physical impressions, stone models, laboratory communication, transportation, and manual adjustments can all introduce small inaccuracies.

Individually, they may seem insignificant. But across multiple stages, these small discrepancies can accumulate, leading to more chairside adjustments, remakes, and treatment time.

Digital workflows don’t replace clinical expertise. They reduce the number of variables between the clinical situation and the final restoration, helping make the entire process more consistent and predictable.

The goal isn’t simply to make dentistry more digital. It’s to create a more controlled restorative workflow.

Predictability starts with the workflow, not only with the operator

What does it actually take to provide a fixed provisional restoration immediately after implant placement?

Part 2 of our series on angled abutments and tilted implants moves from theory to clinical application, following a real full-arch case from tooth extraction and implant placement to the delivery of a screw-retained provisional prosthesis.

The article examines one of the most important factors behind immediate loading: primary implant stability. It discusses how insertion torque and ISQ values influence the decision between delayed, early, and immediate loading and why these parameters should be evaluated before proceeding with provisionalization.

The clinical case also demonstrates the use of 17° and 30° angled Multi-Unit Abutments to restore differently positioned implants and explains the workflow for converting a temporary denture into a screw-retained provisional restoration.

But immediate loading is not only about achieving sufficient implant stability. The article also explores reinforcement of temporary full-arch prostheses, passive fit, cantilever management, occlusal contacts, and prosthesis design, including mistakes that may compromise an otherwise successful surgical result.

How a restoration is attached matters long after the day it is delivered.

In implant prosthetics, long-term planning means thinking beyond initial stability. The restoration may need to be removed for hygiene, maintenance, screw replacement, repair, or evaluation of the peri-implant tissues.

This is where screw-retained restorations on Multi-Unit Abutments offer an important advantage: retrievability. The clinician can access and remove the prosthesis when necessary without relying on a cemented interface.

At the same time, eliminating cement around the implant-supported restoration removes one potential source of peri-implant irritation and makes the restorative interface easier to control.

The implant provides the foundation. But the prosthetic design determines how manageable that foundation remains throughout years of function.

How much does MUA angulation really change the biomechanics of an implant-supported restoration?

While angled Multi-Unit Abutments are essential to compensate for implant position, they dramatically shift how forces are transferred through the prosthesis, screws, and surrounding bone.

Our latest article breaks down a finite element analysis comparing straight, 17°, and 30° MUAs. The most critical takeaway for your practice? ⚠️ With a 30° abutment, horizontal loading produces stresses 2–3 times higher than vertical loading.

These lateral forces create massive stress concentrations exactly where you don't want them: around the screw connection and implant interface.

Explore the full clinical breakdown to see what this means for:
▪ Cantilever design
▪ Occlusion management
▪ Implant distribution strategies
