Today we found out that citizenguides didnt make it to the finals of the European Social Innovation Competition. There are a couple of things to say, unfortunatelly due to current lack of resources I wont be able to make citezenguides a reality for now. As many of you know, volunteer hours are scarse and launching a platform and an app such as this, and doing it rally well, requires a lot, so I have to quickly return focus to the work that pays the bills. Hopefully however this is just a short break and new partnerships and funds are around the corner. In the mean time, and this is the second important thing to say, have a look, at great initiatives that are in the finals (to be published here this afternoon http://ec.europa.eu/growth/industry/innovation/policy/social/competition_en) and join me in recognising the fact that we have an institution in the EU that has a simple and userfirnedly competition to gather social innovation from around Europe, people who care working on it, funds available and most importantly a big big group of people showing that Europe is also not just welcoming, tolerant and compassionate but also willing to work hard on it! Congradulation to all the finalists and best of luck in the competition in Bruxelles.

Dear everyone, we are looking for a bit of help. We have created a survey in order to find out about the needs and preferences of migrants/refugees concerning citizenguides. Since we dont have a budget or the human resources this will not be a representative sample survey but rather just a way to gather ideas and inputs. I wouldn't say this is a picture of a team but a start of a team. Citizen Guides was an idea by one person that has grown into a project by more and more smart enthusiastic people joining in to help. Thank you Mario Bajkuša for being the first to stand by me and thank you Miljenka Kuhar Milena Zajović Milka Ivana Zanze Branko Ančić Asja Korbarica Sena Puhovski Ana Simundza for your enthusiasm and support. Thanks to your help, soon the list will be too long for a Facebook status…you will see:) This is the beggining of citizen guides team at the Social Innovation Academy in Berlin.

Tomorrow Mario Bajkuša and myself travel to Berlin to take part in the Social Innovation Academy in order to learn, develop the Citizen Guides project further and pitch for the finals. We are very excited and well keep you posted.

A great way to end a working week (and start a working weekend) so ecstatic to announce that my idea for has been chosen as one of the 30 best european social innovations!!!!!!!
Out of 1095 ideas I am so proud and frankly a bit shocked has made it to semifinals. And its just the start.
Several points, more online frenzy on monday:
1. innovation can be social, you don't have to invent a thing or an object
2. yes, that means you can and should study social sciences even if your parents want you to study business and management (you should also study business if you want to)
3. you don't have to be young or have any other experience than a couple of failed tries
4. you don't have to leave Croatia in order to work or compete europewide or worldwide
5. last but not least, Im one of only two competitors NOT from western Europe and one out of three that is NOT an organisation or a bigger team so its going to be tough winning this one
If you can help out with visibility, spreading the word, constructive criticism or support - Croatia is in the race and this project can go live even if it doesn't win.
Feels great to be recognised as on of the best social innovators in Europe but not even compared to how great it feels to be on the right side of Europe and the right side of EU and EC,
