The picture on the left with the red circle is a profile of the patient's blocked airway prior to his treatment, while the picture on the right with the green circle shows the same patient with an open airway. The dark space is the airway.
RegeneCare Dental is a world class facility led by Dr. Leora Laichter - a dentist and a mother of 4 committed to providing a wholistic approach to dental health. Early on in her career, Dr. Laichter came across the word of Airway Medicine and Dentistry after it affected her own child. Today, she wishes to share this knowledge with her patients and colleagues.
Dr. Laichter is committed to providing a wholistic approach to dental health. Drawing from experience and challenging old misconceptions, Dr. Laichter is at leading edge of dentistry with a special focus on prevention. She has provided an unparalleled, preventive airway-based approach to dental care using advanced technology and treatment modalities not yet discovered by most mainstream, traditional Canadian dentists. This has set her aside in the community as a pillar of health, as she recognizes that your dental health in reference to your overall health. She has made the link between crooked teeth, grinding and mental health. This has driven her to start her own research with the goal of getting the attention of the universities to establish new protocols in the treatment of mental health.
At RegeneCare Dental we treat your teeth in reference your overall health. We recognize the importance of airway dentistry and functional orthodontics as the only way to treat patients - common mainstream functional orthodontics is focused on straightening teeth. It does not take the patient's airway into consideration, or what caused the crooked teeth to begin with. Traditional orthodontics is practiced in 95% of cases in North America. This means, if you have crooked teeth and no space in your jaw, they will commonly pull some teeth to create space.
At RegeneCare dental we practice Functional Orthodontics, which means if your teeth are crowded we will not pull your teeth, but rather make space for them by jaw development. This creates space for your teeth and tongue - to better support your airway and thereby, delivery more air to your body and mind. This is what sets RegeneCare Dental apart. We have built a strong multidisciplinary team that will only deliver the best - we will look for the cause of your dental and airway problems and treat the cause, rather than simply straighten your teeth. We look at the patient's airway as the driving force of health. If a patient grinds we won't just give you a nightguard - we will assess your airway and treat it to prevent it from continuing. Grinding is an airway obstruction and is 10 steps before sleep apnea. This is what RegeneCare is all about.
The bottom line is that it is no longer about teeth - it is about the airway. Dr. Laichter and her team are paving the way for some groundbreaking research in which they aim to prove that cooked teeth and grinding are strongly related to depression and anxiety due to lack of air. We strongly believe and hope to enlighten the medical and dental communities to begin air assessments as the first tool of diangosis - for any child or adult that is strugglingg with behavioural issues or focusing issues, rather than prescribing medication as a first course of treatment, to first asses the patient's airway and to treat the root cause (the airway), rather than the symptoms.
This is RegeneCare - we don't just treat teeth. We treat you.
