Today is the 68th Birthday of one of my mentors - Dr Sharif Ahmed

His silent contribution to the development of Bangladeshi Dentistry should not be ignored. As one of the pioneers of the “Group practice” format of service delivery in Bangladesh, Dr Sharif showed us youngsters that this way - a Dentist need not be attached to a Hospital to treat and manage a large patient base, under one roof - as a one stop service center. His own practice “Sharif’s Dental surgery "(currently located at House 20. Road 11 new 32 old Dhanmondi.Dhaka.) set the foundation for many many successful Dental practitioners and academics who now work all over Bangladesh and several countries abroad.
Speaking for myself, the valuable lessons and insights I gained there in Bangladeshi patient handling, practice business management, and workplace ethics are part of core skills I use everyday at my own practice.

DR. Sharif Ahmed would always take the time to really talk to his patients - even if it was for five minutes on a busy day - because sometimes that reassurance is really what drives patient confidence and lowers anxiety over potentially painful procedures. He really was excellent at that.

Sadly we lost him to post Covid complications on 19th February 2021. May Allah in his infinite wisdom grant Dr Sharif Ahmed the highest place in heaven.
