💗 Another Successful Gum Graft! 🦷🌿

We love seeing healthy gums and happy smiles — and this is another amazing result! ✨
Our patient came to us with gum recession, which means the gum had pulled away from the tooth, leaving the root exposed. This can make teeth look longer, feel sensitive, and be more prone to damage.

With a gentle gum grafting procedure, we were able to:

✅ Cover the exposed roots

✅ Reduce sensitivity

✅ Protect the teeth

✅ Improve the smile’s appearance

The healing has gone beautifully — and the results speak for themselves! 💪💫
Healthy gums don’t just look great — they help keep your teeth strong for life. 💖

🦷 What to Expect at Your First Visit with a Periodontist 🌿

Visiting a periodontist for the first time? Here’s what your appointment will usually involve 👇

1️⃣ Comprehensive Gum Evaluation – We’ll gently examine your gums, measure pocket depths, and assess any inflammation, bleeding, or gum recession.
2️⃣ X-rays or Imaging – These help us see the bone levels around your teeth and check for hidden signs of gum disease.
3️⃣ Medical & Dental History Review – Certain health conditions and medications can affect your gums, so we take time to understand your full health picture.
4️⃣ Personalised Discussion – We’ll explain what we find, answer your questions, and discuss treatment options tailored to your needs.

💡 Our goal is to protect your foundation — your gums and bone — so your smile can stay strong for life!

If you’ve been referred to a periodontist or have concerns about bleeding gums, loose teeth, or gum recession, don’t worry — you’re taking the right first step toward a healthier mouth. 💚

🦷 Transforming Smiles, Improving Health!

This patient came to us with significant gum enlargement (gingival overgrowth) — a condition often linked to some of the blood pressure medications (calcium channel blocker medications) commonly used for blood pressure.
They also had underlying gum disease, which made things even more challenging.

✅ We started with non-surgical periodontal debridement (deep cleaning) — and the improvement was fantastic!
🩺 After discussing the case with the patient’s GP, the medication was changed to an alternative not associated with gum enlargement.
✅We did not need to cut the gums to remove the excess tissue. Once appropriate periodontal treatment was provided and the blood pressure medication was changed, the gums settled down.
💫 The results?
Even healthier gums, reduced swelling, and a happier, more confident patient!
This case highlights how collaboration between dental and medical professionals can truly transform outcomes.

🦷 Dental Implants: The Gold Standard for Tooth Replacement

What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium or zirconia posts that act as artificial tooth roots. They’re surgically placed into your jawbone, where they provide a strong, stable foundation for a replacement tooth, bridge, or denture.

How Do They Work?
Once placed, the implant fuses naturally with your bone through a process called osseointegration. This creates a secure bond — just like a natural tooth root. After healing, a custom crown (the visible part of the tooth) is attached, completing your new smile.

Why Are They the Gold Standard?
✅ Look and feel natural – Implants are designed to blend seamlessly with your other teeth.
✅ Long-lasting solution – With proper care, implants can last decades — often a lifetime.
✅ No impact on neighbouring teeth – They don’t rely on adjacent teeth for support.
✅ Restore full function – Eat, speak, and smile confidently again.

🦷 Why We Performed Crown Lengthening on Tooth #36

This patient was referred to our practice by their general dentist due to significant loss of tooth structure on tooth #36 (lower left first molar).

There wasn’t enough healthy tooth above the gum line to properly support a crown. Placing a crown in this condition could lead to poor fit, gum inflammation, or crown failure.

We performed surgical crown lengthening to reshape the gum and underlying bone, exposing more of the natural tooth structure.

✅ Allowed for a deeper, more secure crown margin
✅ Reduced the risk of future decay and crown complications
✅ Preserved the natural tooth instead of resorting to extraction

Surgical crown lengthening is often a critical step in saving compromised teeth and supporting long-term restorative success.

Fun fact!

Are You a Speed Brusher? ⏱️😬

The average person only brushes for 45 seconds… but guess what?
You should be brushing for 2 full minutes!

That’s right — if you’re cutting it short, you’re missing out on a cleaner, healthier smile. 🦷✨
💡 Pro Tip:
🎵 Put on your favourite 2-minute song
📱 Set a timer
🎶 Or just vibe with your electric brush’s built-in timer
Your teeth (and your dentist!) will thank you. 😄

✨ Surgical Success Story! ✨

This patient was referred to us to help bring down both of his upper canine (eye) teeth, which were impacted and stuck beneath the gums - a common issue that can affect function and smile aesthetics.

🦷 We performed two surgical exposures — a procedure where we gently uncover impacted teeth so they can be guided into place with braces. It’s a common and important step when teeth don’t erupt on their own.

1️⃣ Before surgery
2️⃣ 1 week post-op
3️⃣ 1 year later — with both canines right where they belong!

A great result thanks to teamwork with our orthodontic partners and a very patient patient!

🦷 Patient Treatment Journey 🦷
Here’s how we helped our patient restore their smile after a failed restoration — from extraction to a beautiful, functional implant crown. 👇

🔹 The Reason
The patient came to us after their post and crown dislodged, leaving the tooth non-restorable.
✅ Stage 1: Tooth Extraction + Alveolar Ridge Preservation
We carefully extracted the tooth and performed alveolar ridge preservation to maintain bone volume and prepare the site for future implant placement.
🧱 Stage 2: Implant Placement
Once healed, we placed a dental implant to replace the missing tooth root, ensuring strength and longevity.
👑 Stage 3: Final Implant Crown
Finally, our patient’s general dentist restored the implant with a custom crown — natural-looking, durable, and functional.
✨ A full journey to a healthy, confident smile — start to finish!

🦴✨ Bone Regeneration Win at Tooth 36!

Check out this successful Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) to correct a bony defect at tooth 36 — and the healing is looking amazing! 🙌

GBR helps rebuild lost bone, giving us the support we need for future treatment (like implants) or just improving the overall health of the area. In this case, we were able to restore the bone where it had resorbed and set the stage for long-term success. 💪

Great results + smooth healing = one happy patient! 😁
