In younger growing mouths, expanders can aid in the expansion of the jaw, creating more space in those with crowded and narrow palates, as well as improvements in jaw alignment.

Once kids reach a certain age where they are no longer growing, surgery may be the only alternative treatment for a narrow palate.

Once expansion is complete, braces treatment may be initiated if needed to align the teeth, usually after 6 weeks.

Importance of routine checkups

Many times cavities(holes) may be present on teeth without any or little symptoms.
Symptoms sometimes only arise when the cavity becomes too big to be fixed with a simple filling and in these cases they may need a root canal therapy to keep the tooth or extraction of the entire tooth
Early detection through 6 monthly checkups allows cavities to be detected early and a simple filling may be all that’s required.

One of the highlights of the past year was our mobile dental visits.

Having visited these centres at the beginning of the year and then having a second visit 6 months later, many of the children who were apprehensive on the first visit were the most confident when we came back the second time around. Developing this conscientious need for dental visit and oral hygiene at a young age will ultimately lead to better oral health outcomes over the years.

Thankyou to Alice Street Child Care, Kidsworld Childcare, Lurnea Early Learning, Park Early Learning Centre, Early Learning ’s Hall Early Learning for ending the year with great dental visits to your centre.
