White teeth = Healthy teeth?

While white teeth may be aesthetically pleasing, they are not a guaranteed sign of oral health.

Teeth are 3D in nature, so if you're looking at just the colour, you're probably looking at the front surface of the teeth.

Colour alone doesn't show us if there's any cavities or decay, if there's any issues with the gums, if there's any infection below what we can see on the surface.

Bacteria may travel along the crack!

Bacteria need to release chemicals to breakdown the dentine structure before itself, before it can digest it. So, the deepest layer of decay does not have bacteria in it.

This is a” just in the nick of time”, situation. Decay feeds on the dentine of the tooth. The dentine consists of microtubules (micro tubes) the connect to the pulp (including the nerve). These tubes get larger as the approach the nerve meaning more space for the bacteria to invade the tooth.......
