„… The gel even got into my muscle tissue and spread up into both arm pits (thankfully I was never in any pain) Dr. Hatami performed a meticulous 5+ hour surgery to completely evacuate the gel and granulomas, combining it with a breast reduction and lift.
The gel and granulomas were scattered everywhere and incredibly hardened. I truly feared it would result in a double mastectomy, but thank God it didn’t.
He successfully removed roughly 2.3kg (5 lbs) of foreign material and granulomas, and I was absolutely amazed that I was up and about the very next day. Writing this just a week after the procedure, I am already feeling well enough to go out and meet friends for coffee, work on my jigsaw puzzles, and see Dr. Babak every few days for dressing changes.
It still blows my mind that I endured such a serious procedure but I had minimal down time. One could easily go back to work within 1 week if working from home and within 2 weeks if you have to go into the office. I am so incredibly grateful to him for not freaking out when he saw the complexity of the situation under the skin, and for doing such a masterful job.
Beyond his brilliant surgical skill, I deeply appreciated his approach to patient care. He respects his patients‘ intellect and will go into as much technical detail as you desire. Unlike other surgeons I’ve dealt with in the past who keep things high-level, he never assumed I wouldn’t understand the ins and outs just because I’m not a doctor. He truly indulged my curious nature and helped me thoroughly understand the complexity and the risks involved in both proceeding and doing nothing.
