Full mouth of zirconia crowns on natural teeth and implants to restore both esthetics and function. There are multiple layers of complexity to this case that may go unnoticed such as the change to vertical dimension of occlusion and re-designing the occlusal scheme. This is, of course, in addition to the changes to tooth shape, size, and form. All these changes are tested out for a while in provisionals before moving to the final restorations.

Full mouth of crowns and bridges for this very sweet patient! Posterior implants to distribute occlusal contacts and adjust buccal corridor fill would have been ideal, but we were limited by the need for bilateral direct sinus lift and finances. Happy with the outcome nonetheless!

تلبيسات من الزيركون لإعادة رسم الابتسامة و تصحيح الإطباق.. الهدف من العلاج ليس فقط التجميل و إنما تأهيل الأسنان لتعود إلى صحتها الوظيفية.

Same person, different smile!

In celebration of National Prosthodontics Awareness Week, I thought I would share an example of the cases that present to a prosthodontist for care. Cases like this highlight the impact of prosthodontics on overall facial esthetics. This impact is not only reflected in the physical changes (such as the improvement in tooth shape and size), but treatment also has a powerful psychological impact.

Patients will always try to minimize tooth display when they are self-conscious about their teeth and are unhappy with they look. As a result, they learn how to control their muscles of facial expression to hide the teeth as possible when smiling, which influences the size of the overall smile. We can appreciate how the smile is significantly wider and more relaxed after treatment, which shows the psychological impact of carefully executed treatment plans and smile designs!

Had a great time in Austin, but we’re back to work!

We’ve been working on a new method for teaching certain aspects of removable partial dentures in the preclinic—a brilliant idea by 💡

With the help of , we were able to create interchangeable distal extensions to simulate ridge resorption. The removable distal extensions will allow for a smoother workflow with making and pouring altered cast impressions. Excited to see how it will turn out!

Full mouth reconstruction using all-ceramic crowns for this patient presenting with amelogensis imperfecta.

All 28 teeth were minimally prepared for crowns to provide stable occlusion (or bite), protect the teeth, and restore their shape, size and color.

Pressed lithium disilicate crowns, onlays and veneers (and implants) to restore natural shape, size and function. As you can probably tell, it was difficult to get the patient to smile at all in the pre-treatment pictures (exaggerated smile below ⬇️), but things changed after treatment. This is why we do what we do!

ترميم شكل الأسنان و إعادة الإطباق السليم بين الفكين بإستعمال تلبيسات و فينيرز من السيراميك، بالإضافة الى بعض الزرعات لتعويض الأسنان الخلفية. اخترنا لون السيراميك بناء على رغبة المريض الذي أراد أسنان طبيعية و غير ملفتة (اللون الطبيعي للأسنان يميل الى بعض الصفار بسبب طبقة العاج).

لاحظوا الفرق في حجم و شكل الإبتسامة قبل و بعد التركيبات!

Minimally invasive full mouth rehabilitation for this amelogenesis imperfecta case. Here, we are testing out esthetics and function using 3D printed temporary crowns that were made based on our proposed final design.

3D printed crowns are great for these evaluations as they closely mimic the desired shape and texture. However, they are very opaque (monochromatic) and don’t have the gradient of layers found in natural teeth. The final ceramic crowns will follow the shape and contours of the 3D printed temporaries but are layered to mimic the different colors found in natural teeth.

Although these are just temporary crowns, you can tell how happy the patient is by how differently they are now smiling!

تلبيسات مؤقتة مطبوعة بتقنية ال3D, يستطيع المراجع و الطبيب من خلالها رؤية النتيجة النهائية و القيام بالتعديلات اذا لزم الأمر قبل صناعة التلبسات من السيراميك.

تقنية الطباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد او ال3D تقوم بنسخ شكل الأسنان النهائية بدقة، و لكن نلاحظ عدم وجود تدرجات في الألوان و غياب الشفافية الطبيعية لأن الطابعة غير قادرة على طباعة أكثر من لون او طبقة. لهذا السبب، هذه المرحلة للتأكيد على الشكل و الإطباق السليم قبل القيام بصنع تلبيسات السيراميك ذات الألوان و الشفافية الطبيعية.

Full mouth reconstruction to restore the smile (and function) on one of the greatest patients I got to treat in residency!

The case took a long time to complete for multiple reasons—caries control, increase in vertical dimension of occlusion, designing the new occlusal scheme and testing everything out in long term provisionals. We also required multiple surgical procedures (sinus elevation, ridge augmentations) followed by implant placement by Dr. Pizarek to restore posterior support.

We opted for a natural shade of zirconia crowns which were beautifully made by the artist 🎨

Looking back at where we started, I’m happy with the overall outcome! What do you think?
